Introduction
Randy Travis and Clay Walker are known for creating decades of enduring country hits. But in 2025, the singers are embarking on a new collaboration.
Wednesday night, Walker and Travis revealed that Walker would portray Travis in a new biopic called Forever and Ever, Amen. The men named the movie after one of Travis’ biggest hits.
“We’ve been talking about this for a long time,” Walker said from the Opry stage. “A lot of times, these things never come to fruition. The good Lord has had his hand in this. And, we’re going to make the best movie about this man’s life.”

The announcement came during Walker’s Wednesday night Opry performance. Travis often uses a wheelchair following a 2013 health crisis. He suffered from viral cardiomyopathy, which led to a significant stroke. Travis’ wife, Mary, wheeled him onto the stage with Walker, encouraging Travis to join him in the hallowed circle.
Walker said the movie would examine Travis’ life in three parts – Travis as a child in North Carolina, the singer in his 20s-30s, and at 40-50. Walker will portray Travis at 40-50. He joked that, apparently, no one thought he would be a convincing 20-year-old Travis. Walker, 55, said they had been working towards the biopic for the last 18 months and that he was thrilled he could finally talk about it.

“There be a lot of a lot of key moments from his 6(5) years,” Walker promised. “God is good, you all.”
Walker will serve as executive producer alongside the Travises. Film producer Eric Groth (Ethan Hawke’s “Wildcat”) and writer/director Andrew Hyatt of Sacred Arthouse and Zach Dasher and Korie Robertson of Tread Lively, the team behind the record-breaking film “The Blind” are all part of the creative team. Anne McCarthy, Kellie Roy, and Morgan Robbins at Engine Casting and Production are casting for Forever And Ever, Amen. While Walker will portray Travis later in life, the company is still looking for actors to play Travis as a child and in his 20s/30s.
“This is a dream come true,” Walker said. “I’m just I’m so excited that this is finally gonna happen.
Walker explained they planned to start shooting Forever and Ever, Amen this summer and that it should be out in 2026.
“This is gonna be epic for all of us,” he said.
In a statement following the announcement, Travis said that while he had been approached many times in recent years about doing a movie on his life, that the timing never felt right until now.
“With Clay on our side and the creative direction he and the producers have, I feel good about telling my story through this medium,” he said.
